I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

and I've watched the film as well. (I watched the film first, then read the book). In the film (Deathly Hallows part 1), he puts the snitch to his lips, it opens up and it says 'I open at the close'. In the book though, I'm a little confused; at one point of the book, he says 'I open at the close' but he hasn't opened the snitch yet. How does he know that is what the snitch says in the book? Did I miss something? If so, what?

I hope my question made sense!

The way it happens in the movie is the same way it happens in the book.....Harry and co. are at Grimmauld place, Hermione has already mentioned that Snitches have flesh memories and that she was nervous that something would happen when the Prime Minister put it in Harry's hand. Harry also must know this since he should pretty much know everything to do with quidditch especially snitches. So while they are chillin in Grimmauld Place he is messing with the snitch and remembers that he didn't catch it with is hand, but almost swallowed it. That's when he puts his lips on it and the words written by Dumbledore are revealed to him. He never opens the snitch until the end.
sorry its been a while since I read the book so I can't remember..

but you should always read the book before you see the movie :)

movies have to cut out 75% of any story, since you can't squeeze a few hundred pages into a 1.5 hour long movie. and movies add or change facts from the book so that its more suitable for the big screen. you miss out on alot of the story if you watch the movie first, and then when you read the book you are confused because the movie told the story differently.I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?
it's been such a long time since i read the book. but if it was in the 'Deathly Hallows' chapter it might be becuase he just heard about the story of the three brothers. i cant really help you without giving the story away. but hopefully when you get to the ending everything makes sense. sorry if this doesnt help but i really dont want to ruin the ending for you.
Actually harrry can't open the snitch until he realizes that he has to die and then he knows what "I open at the close" means and Dumbledore hid the ressirection stone (Marvolo Riddles Ring) and harry uses it to Bring back, James, Lily, Lupin, %26amp; Sirius to accompany him to his death in the forbidden forestI am currently reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?
If I remember correctly, in the book Harry tries to open the snitch at the Weasly's house right after the Minister of Magic gives it to him and leaves. The words "I open at the close" then appear on the snitch.

Yup, it is on page 134 of the book.
In the book the snitch doesn't open to the very end. When he kiss the snitch for the first time across the side of it is written I open at the close. That's all you get from the snitch till the very end and it frustrating as all get out.
In the book, once he puts the snitch to his lips, the words are engraved on the outside for a short time and then the words disappear.
The snitch doesn't open when he brings it to his lips. All that happens is that 'I open at the close' appears. This happens in both the movie and the book. The snitch doesn't actually open until later.
I open at the close is engraved on the snitch, it doesn't open up in the movie, the words just appear when he puts it to his lips
