You need to see/read ALL the Harry Potter books in order. You can't just jump in in the middle and really get it.

The Half Blood Prince has crucial information in it that you will need to know to understand Deathly Hallows. The Deathly Hallows picks up and begins building up to the last part. The Deathly Hallows is almost straight from the book, so in order to understand it, you need to watch the Half Blood Prince. If you want to understand anything they are talking about, then I suggest watching half blood prince. There is a LOT of vital information in this movie. No point ruining it for you, but it pretty much lays out the rest of the series for you... Without it, you will be lost.
in order to get the best experience out of the harry potter movies, you should read the books. but if not, it's good to have seen previous movies.

I would advise watching it, yes. I suppose you would get the gist whilst watching HP %26amp; TDH. However you might spend parts of the movie wondering what certain characters are referring to at times etc. This could lead to you missing parts of the film.
yes you do to know what they are talking about. Especially what a horcrux is. That's pretty important to know for the Deathly Hallows.
