so i just finished watching part 1 and i have a few questions about the movie that i don't understand. can someone please explain them to me :) they go in chronological order
p.s i haven't read the books
1. why does voldemort get away with using the avada kedavra spell?
2. how come the muggles cannot see hagrid on his motorbike in the traffic and the others on their brooms?
3. why are they not at hogwarts? have they graduated?
4. how come snape didnt go to azkaban for killing dumbledoor
5. when did hermione and ron develop a romance? i dont remember them developing a romance in the 6th movie
6.when the man on the radio announces that there are all these people missing, why are they missing?
7. why did the locket change ron's personality
8. why was did harry's face change and his eye was swollen|||1. Voldemort is the most powerful wizard at the time (not counting Dumbledore as he is dead) so he is able to elude capture
2. there is some sort of invisibility spell cast upon it
3. they have left Hogwarts to find voldemort's horcruxs, a task that Dumbledore set Harry in the Half Blood Prince, and Harry is unable to return to school as he is the most wanted person in the wizarding world. also Ron and Hermione would be unable to return as they are known to be with Harry. and no they haven't graduated, they left Hogwarts at the end of their sixth year and you need to complete seven years in order to graduate
4. Snape was ordered to kill Dumbledore by Voldemort, who like i stated in answer 1 has been able to elude capture. this includes Voldemort's followers (the Death Eaters, including Snape) who are protected by him.
5. the movies aren't very clear in showing Ron and Hermione's developing romance, the films miss out a lot of details and you would have to read the books to get the full picture, but in my opinion their feelings for each other have been clear since the 4th film when Ron and Hermione fight over Krum taking Hermione to the Yule ball. although in the Half Blood Prince film Ron and Lavender start dating which upsets Hermione (there is a scene of her crying, then attacking Ron with birds after seeing him kiss Lavender)
6. lots of people are going missing because Voldemort and the Death Eaters are capturing Muggle borns. they also kill and torture Muggles for fun and abduct anyone they think will be of use to them, eg: anyone who knows any information about Harry's whereabouts. the beginning of the film shows Voldemort murdering Hogwarts' ex Muggle studies teacher for simply encouraging 'mating' with Muggles
7. the locket was a Horcrux, it held a part of Voldemort's soul, which caused Ron to become more aggressive and increased the intensity of the paranoid thoughts (about being overshadowed by Harry, Hermione and Harry falling in love) that he was having.
8. Hermione cast a stinging jinx on Harry just before the Snatchers caught up with them, this distorted his face and caused it to swell up so he would be unrecognisable as Harry (the most wanted person in the wizarding world). if the Snatchers didn't recognise Harry then the three would be more likely to get away from Snatchers as Harry's capture carries a big reward.|||Question: Why don't you read the books?|||1. He gets away with it because it's like killing someone. You only get punished if you get caught. And they can onlytrace magic used by minors
2. The best explanation is that while on the bike they are part of the magical world. And muffled can not see the magical world. This is a discontinuity I know.
3. They have decided that instead of finishing their last year of school they will instead destroy the horcux. To defeat voldamort.
4. Same as question 1. He didn't get caught. And the only witness Harry is not credible with the ministry.
5. It first seeded in goblet of fire and slowly built over time.
6. They are either dead, running from the ministry, or captured by voldamort. The ones on the run are accused by the ministry of stealing magic from a wizard.
7. The locket changed him because it contains a part of voldamort's soul. It feeds on insecurities
8. Hermione hit him in the face with a spell in hopes of him not being recognized.
Rip Dobby
" here lies Dobby: a free elf"|||1. Because no one can catch him.
2. Well in the book it tells you about an invisibility button made by Arthur Weasly but in the film it says nothing about it but it could just be that they missed it out.
3. They aren't at Hogwarts because they knew it wouldn't be long before Voldemort was controlling it (Snape)
4. Snape did it because he is Voldemort's right hand man so he kept him out prison. Also he has the Dementors on his side now so there's no-one to guard the prison.
5. In the sixth movie if you notice Ron tries to wipe toothpaste off of Hermione's face and then later when Proffesor Slughorn makes love potion for the students she says that the love potion smell changes to what the person nearby assosiates with their love and she says peppermint toothpaste.
6. They are missing because they are probably half-bloods (Voldemort considers them inferior) or Voldemort just doesn't like them so he kills them.
7. The locket changed Ron's personality because the locket is trying to protect the horcrux within and so it tries to turn whoever is wearing it against the people around them.
8. Harry's face changed because Hermione used a jinx on his face to try and disguise him from the snatchers.
Hope I was helpful =D|||1. Because he's Voldemort. Everyone is afraid of him.
2. It wasn't really in the book. In the book they were high in the sky
3. They haven't graduated. They have dropped out so they could search for the horcruxes
4. Because he works with Voldemort and he had taken over the Ministry of Magic
5. They won't develop a real romance until the last movie
6. Voldemort killed them
7. Because it had a peace of Voldemort's soul in it.
8. Because Hermione cast a spell on him so the Death Eaters wouldn't recognize him.|||1. He's a BAMF
2. Who said they can't see them? Of course they can.
3. They haven't graduated, they decided not to go back and look for Horcruxes....you obviously aren't really paying attention to any of the other films all that much either....
4. He fled with the Death Eaters..and doesn't come back to Hogwarts until they take over.
5. It's been brewing.
6. They are Muggle-born and have been sent to Azkaban or they just pissed off the wrong people and are dead.
7. It changed all their's, just make them annoyed and on edge...because it's evil.
8. Hermione didn't want the Snatcher's to know who he was and his picture was everywhere....Undesireable No. 1...so she jinxed him with a stinging jinx to make him unrecognizable....didn't work very well. =/|||Voldemort is the most evil thing to ever hit the face of the Harry Potter world, the muggles don't pay enough attention to the wizarding community, so they won't notice, they have not graduated, they had to drop out because Harry would have been captured and killed, The daily prophet covered up the whole thing because Pius Thickenesse was under the imperius curse and covered it up for being death eaters works, Ron and Hermione had been developing that for at least two years, the people that were missing were because of voldemort's attacks on them and their families, the locket was carrying a piece of voldemort's soul, and it was trying to get away using anything necessary, because Hermione used a stinging jinx so his face would swell and he would be unrecognizable.|||1. Because the whole wizarding world is under his control. The Minister (who is under Voldemorts control) can let him get away with that stuff.
2. Charms can be put on them so that no one can see them except for wizards
3. No, they quit school (they were of age) to go fight Voldemort. In the end *SPOILER* Hermione does go back and take her end-of-school tests, and passes them.
4. Voldemort's protection (remember, the minister is under his control) helped Snape to get away with it.
5. In the 6th movie, Hermione starts to feel extremely sad that Ron is with Lavender (remember the birds?) and Ron gets mad that Hermione goes to the Yule Ball with krum in the 4th book.
6. Voldemort (or his supporters) might have murdered them, or captured them.
7. The locket was full of dark magic, which can be used to manipulate others. All of them felt depressed because of the dark magic.
8. Hermione put a stinging charm on Harry to make him unrecognizable.
