I have many questions to ask, and hopefully most of them get answered. I was watching the new Harry Potter movie The Deathly Hallows Part 2, and it got me wondering if I can become a famous actor. I think I have great sensibility and skills for it. I have drama education in my school, however it's not that great (a lot mix ups since I have the same teacher for English, and at the end of the year all we did were secondary 2 exams).
I did a mythical play; Echo and Narcissus. And my teacher said I was excellent.
We did some plays on the Merchant of Venice, where we had to remake the scripts in modern form.
It was very new to me, I didn't do very good on this one because of me and my partner mixing up our lines, but the script I made for these got about 88%-90%.
At home, I'm quite an actor! I pretend as if I'm playing characters in my imaginary 2D side-scroller (like Maplestory). I would act as an Orc, Cowboy Slayer, Gunner, Dual Rogue, and many others. It actually very fun, perhaps even better than playing a real video game. But I also pretend as if I'm a hero, who wants to stop violence by killing criminals and at the end of the "movie", I would surrender and then I would've saved the world from violence. (this figure I made is called the Freedom Phantom)
I also made a imaginary movie called Mythian. Where Zeus's son betrays him, and joins Hades, then kills Hades and become the ruler of the underworld. Then he kills both his father;Zeus, and his mother who is still unnamed. I called the last movie Mythian: Myth%26amp;Mod, because it takes place in the future. Mod is for Modern.
If these are symptoms of becoming an actor, then great! Because I believe I have great potential for it.
I have so much to say but my hands are starting to hurting typing to much :P
The only thing I'm worrying about is, taking classes and resume. Because I don't have many skills like singing. And I heard that the photo that is needed to be taken for the resume costs a lot, and the classes I searched up were like $200-$400 dollars just for 1-2 weeks. (My family can't really afford this) I don't want to go further till I know I can do it. Thank you for your answers, and PLEASE DO NOT leave any offending comments. Can I become an actor?
It's typical for someone you age to want to become an actor or celebrity. It's very hard to make it big, there are so many actors who you probably never even heard of. The thing is there is a 1 in a million chance you will become famous and known. You do need money for acting lessons and singing lessons. You would need to go to a photo shoot and get an Agent which cost a lot of money. You would start out with small commercials then go to auditions were hundreds of people just as good as you are there. It hard out there and remember there is a very very very small chance you will become famous. You also think to high of yourself which will be a problem if you don't get a part that you wanted.
Lots of people 12+ do that were they make mini moves and want to be an actor or singer. Who knows it may just be a small stage in your life that you will get over.
Becoming an Actor also needs a lot of voice training. You have to speak your lines without any Accent, and your voice has to be strong enough to carry to the back of the Theatre when you are on stage. You don't speak into microphones when on stage. You also need to find an emotional state at times, for instance, when you need to cry tears for real in an instant. For film work, you need to be photogenic and adapt to a very different type of acting to acting on stage.Perhaps there are Amatuer Dramatic Societies in your area where you can join and gain more experience in acting before an audience. Good luck with your Dream. Can I become an actor?
If you think you can do it, try it! But don't expect it to be easy. All the "picture" is is a head shot. It's a 8 x 10 portrait of your face. It doesn't have to be expensive. Hope I helped :)
you could ask ur drama teacher for some extra tips and maybe she could set up some time after school to do 1 on 1 class or help u improve you can also try calling the classes and asking for some kind of a discount ask your drama teacher if she knows where you may be able to start hope i helped and good luck u seenm reli pashinate bout it so u will succeed no matter what u dont have to take expencive classes to be a good actor and you could also get a jobCan I become an actor?
Well, your first step would be to talk to an agency, but you will need to get pictures, which would be $300-$900 (this is was I was told for modeling, but I was also told acting headshots were the same. Most agencies also charge a yearly fee (probably about $200), for the cost to list you in their databases, put your information online for casting directors, and also probably to discourage the people who aren't serious about it.
As for the resume, don't worry about it. They'll tell you what they want on it, and how to help you build it.
Keep in mind that you might have to drive fairly far to get to auditions, and it's still not guaranteed that you get the part, or any work for that matter.
You might have what it takes, but it's very expensive and hard to get started.
