Where's this accent from?

I am an student of English and I have a special interest on the British accent. I believe it is elegant and interesting the way English is pronounced in Britain. So, I watched some films that got me wondering about where that kind of accent is used. I refer to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, specifically the actor Andy Linden who plays Mundungus Fletcher. There is too Pirates of the Caribbean and the actor Mackenzie Crook who plays Ragetti. My real interest on this question is because their pronounce is very different from the Standard British Pronounce.



P.S.: Please, answer this question those who really had watched the films.

Fairly sure he's cockney... though without being able to recall the accent immediately, when you say Mackenzie Crook in PotC, then it could be cornish or even west country, which is what most "pirates" are portrayed with these days.



But from the actor you are talking about for Mundungus I think he's cockney, generally the type of character he portrays.Where's this accent from?
There isn't a standard British pronunciation. It is just like in America, there are different accents for different places. There is however received pronunciation which a lot of actors learn. Mackenzie Crook has a Kent accent. In P.O.T.C. he speaks with a slight cockney accent (this isn't actually too far removed from his own accent, but it is just a lot lighter than his own voice.) Mundungus Fletcher also speaks with a cockney accent, however his is more of an East-End London one. Hope this helps =)Where's this accent from?
Haven't seen those movies, but they may either be from Northern England, Scotland or Island. Perhaps Wales.
